PRESTON PATRICK Church Wall

Mission accomplished!

(see Gallery for photos)
members meet 2+3 Sept ’17 Sunday weather held out until about 3.00 and we’d completed the parapet wall before afternoon tea. After tea, we cammed the whole wall in drizzle, but got it all sorted by 5.00.
As the ground was wet and beginning to get slippery, it was agreed with the church that it would be counter-productive for John to scrape the remaining stone up and level the soil, particularly below the wall. The church will organise a party to move stone and then John or Nathan will be able to level the land.

Food note: the promised Sunday lunch was an excellent meat ball /ragu sauce with cheese in a long roll with cold drinks and cakes to die for. Great hospitality, which has been acknowledged.

The church folk were well pleased with what we achieved. We have already received two emails of thanks from the church wardens:

“We have enjoyed having you all and I’m pleased you enjoyed the catering. The wall does look lovely. It has given us a boost for getting on with developing the rest of the site.”

“I just want to say thank you to ALL of the “boys”  for an outstanding effort over the previous few days in making the wall of the Remembrance Garden here at Preston Patrick Church a reality … we are delighted with the end product. The work ethic which all of your volunteers adopt is fantastic … how you have the stamina to continue day after day both with the work and the banter I will never know! “
