The Westmorland Show was exceptionally held this year over 2 days. The Cumbria Branch attended as usual in the normal spot by the Canal, supported by Alison from HQ, 9 members walled each day in to create at T shaped wall with two cheek ends, hog hole and feature hole. Two types of Cams/Cope were used to show variety of styles. Day 1 was exceptionally hot at 28C, so walling was done in short stints, Day 2 was still warm at 22C, but more tolerable and the rain held off apart from a short shower.
We were visited by Their Royal Highnesses The Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex during their visit to the show, whereby they were able to admire the work and quality of the walling. Both were knowledgeable about our craft.
Members of the public were also very supportive with a number of enquiries about Membership and course. Thank you to all who attended from the Branch especially Graham for organising and George and Glyn for advice and design respectively – a great two days.
